FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do we meet?

Most patients meet weekly, especially if you are experiencing distress that interferes with important areas of your life like work, school, health, or relationships. This frequency is especially helpful at the start, and it assists in maintaining progress from session to session. Scientific research shows that improvement happens more quickly in weekly therapy. Over time, biweekly visits may be appropriate. Research suggests that therapy is less effective when several weeks occur between visits because it’s much harder to follow-up on recent developments, your responses to treatment and therapy goals.

How do online therapy sessions work?

You will receive a secure link prior to our session and we will both login to a HIPPA compliant video conferencing software so that we can see and hear one another (e.g. Doxyme).  You’ll want to make sure you are in a private area when you login and that you have good wifi/internet.

Do you take insurance?

In New York and New Jersey. I am not in network with any insurance plans.  However, most PPO plans will cover a percentage of my services out-of-network. I am happy to provide you with a receipt  for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network coverage. Please check with your insurance company to see what their out-of-network coverage is under your plan, as it varies widely among insurance plans. Our counseling services may be eligible for reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, medical spending or health care savings accounts.

Another option: Private pay. Many clients choose not to involve insurance in their mental health care. By paying privately (out of pocket), I can assure private pay clients of the highest degree of privacy, flexibility and control over their mental health record allowed by law, since my records are exempt from insurance reporting and random compliance audits. Our work is off record. In addition, many insurance companies require a deductible to be met before they start paying, so you may be paying out of pocket anyway

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, Check, or major Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover).  You can also use your flexible spending account or your HSA account for payment.  If you'd like to use your insurance and have out of network benefits, I can provide you with a receipt for services so that you can get reimbursed by your plan.

What is your service area?

I currently maintain three offices and primarily work with patients in Westchester County, NY, Mount Kisco, NY and Fairfield County, CT.
